Not SaaS

Nothing here is software as a service. You download a file, you install it, it is yours. There is no login, no monthly charge, no server of ours that it has to call home to, and no switch we can flip to turn it off.

What that means in practice

  • It runs on your machine. The ANALOG GHOST plugins run inside After Effects and Premiere Pro. Liquid Brain runs locally and keeps its project memory in plain files on your disk. Unplug the network and everything keeps working.
  • No account. You do not create a HIGH ON FUMES account to use anything. The only account on this site is the optional WooCommerce one that remembers your downloads.
  • No telemetry. The software does not collect usage data or contact our servers. The Privacy Policy says exactly what the website itself collects, which is the minimum needed to send you a download link.
  • No subscription. Pay once if you want to pay, or pay nothing. Nothing renews. A new version is a new download, not a new bill.
  • It outlives us. If this site disappeared tomorrow, every file you downloaded would still open, still render, still run. Your work is not hostage to our uptime.

Why

Creative and development tools have drifted into rent. A plugin you cannot open without a licence server, a project tool whose data lives in someone else’s database, a monthly fee for a feature that used to ship in the box. We think tools should behave like tools: you own them, you keep them, and they do not report on you.

Pay what you can is the other half of the same idea. The price on the box is a suggestion that reflects what the thing is worth to us to build. What you pay is your call, and the files are the same either way.

The honest limits

  • Updates are distributed as downloads. There is no auto-updater, so a new build means visiting this site or your My Account page.
  • Liquid Brain is a development candidate. “Not SaaS” says where it runs and what it does not do; it does not mean it is finished.
  • The site itself uses a payment processor for contributions. That part is a service, theirs, not ours, and it only touches the moment you choose to pay.
